Hello,
I am going to be starting a contest for the creation of new profile badges for the 'Scout' category. Some important things to note:
Images should be 64px X 64px
Image backgrounds should be black
Image colors should be as similar to existing badge colors as possible.
We will need Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Now, as for prizes, the winner (selected by peers and staff) will have their badges added to the website and in-game (the profile tab.) In addition, I will be throwing in 30,000 credits to the winner. All participants who make a serious effort will also be given 5,000 credits, regardless of if they win or not.
If you are interested in participating, or if you have any suggestions, please feel free to reply to this post.

Thank you for taking the time to enter! I have gone ahead and transferred 5,000 credits to you for entering the contest. I also really like your design, it is elegant and I think it matches the design scheme of the other badges.

I tried to get the metallic look right, but I don't know how well I did... Compared to the ones already on the site ( and the ones by Az ), I reckon if I had used better software ( rather than Paint.NET ), I could have gotten a better result. In the end I think what makes them look so jagged and pixelated is because of how badly Paint.NET handles resizing.
Bronze:
Silver:
Gold:
Platinum:
Also, just in case, here's a download with a zip of the actual pngs. Just in case of any compression that may have occured while uploading to the site ( though frankly in this case compression probably would make them look better... ):

did an updated version of the other badges.
I wish I could make them bigger. ZBrush makes these things look real as hell lol.

I don't have a good program for shading a nice 3D looking badge, but I do have a suggestion for it. Maybe a vaguely eye-shaped badge with an angled satellite dish in the center? If there's room to spare on either side, you could use 1, 2, and 3 chevrons for each level of badge, the entire design signifying signature increase.
I might take a stab at it later if someone else doesn't first.
EDIT, here, this took way longer than it should have and im still not happy with it. someone with the tools and the talent can at least see what im going for

EDIT2: later today im gonna try getting a more defined dish shape and pinch it to sharp corners on the edges, but the subdivide modifier just smoothed all of it

I was going for a beacon/radar ish look for the badge, I also tried to make it DS-ish like the current badges, the shading and shadows were hard to replicate tho.
