eccm works on raising signature but its the scanner that fins things like missles, bombs, fighters, things like that

A.k.a. No, you don't need eccm.
The remark about eccm, is because missiles are no longer showing up from eccm blankets, making a ED/PD a must.

They aren't, I've tried it. It can kill small ships effortlessly but usually dies trying to attack anything larger than itself. I suppose loading one up with a ton of Makkar's to make a small ship killer would work, but you could do the same thing with an Assault Cruiser and get a better result.

I reckon border cruiser will be used more then this. Great to see it buffed and changed so its nnot so useless..
Anyway, on ED's.
They are looking pretty ship-shape at the moment. Alot of beams and rails, they make an excellent counterpart to the combat dessy.
