I recently bought a darkspace cd at the restore
I was wondering if I can use it instead of downloading the files, and what the differences would be
and I wanna know if you get guided missile frigates or PTs with torps?
Cheers!

At the bottom of the posted link, one of your qeustions is answered:
"In case you in possession of a DarkSpace installation CD, you must still download the latest game client. The client has changed over the years and the old CD installer is no longer compatible with the new version. However if you own a DarkSpace Boxed version with CD there should be a CD-Key coupon included, you can use this one-time coupon to get a free month of subscribed playtime and a higher starting rank. "

Yes, and yes. ICC and UGTO both get Missile Frigates, and ICC gets a Corvette loaded with torpedoes.

simple, I bought it at a restore for $2.50
anyway the cd came in its case but no manual(there is the serial number on it) I tried putting the serial number in at acc creation but it messed up the form and I had to go back to step 1
I cannot wait to try ICC then...
anyway so I just have to download the client? will it be able to use the files off the CD? will I just need a recent exe?

Try running setup and disabling shaders and shadows, those seem to be the most common issues with crashing like that. Setup can be found in the launch tab of the GCQL client.
