Why was the public one removed?
Or did i turn blind?

Scripting Discussion
Forum for discussions about DarkSpace game scripting. Access by request only.
Seems like you need to ask...I'm not certain though.

Well, we first tried it the 'open' way, but we didn't get anything positive / usable from, it.. just rather negative things.
So we do the 'closed' attempt now.
It's obvious that all DarkSpace scripts are written in LUA,
so it's logical that you can't write any useful DarkSpace scripts without being good in writing normal LUA-scripts.
The open attempt didn't care for that fact. It was more like "everyone who starts playing around with DS-scripts will notice that he can't do anything good without some LUA-skills" ... but that didn't happen as it seems.
So being able to do some decent LUA-scripts will be a requirement for getting access to the private scripting forum.
We'll probably open up another public forum later on with better detail on the LUA part.

hmm well you posted a link to a big pile of paper with info about lua but i think i was missing a few pages cus it just started in the middle of of some story.
So i decided to take a map with scripts + Knife and do it the old way
But like you said nothing really usefull came from that accept for a few nice sig bases for my fleet
And i am willing to learn even though lua seems hard

Then feel free to prove it. There is public access to the Scripting Reference, which includes all the custom DS functions, and there is information about Lua on their site..
If you want to help out, want to learn.. pick them both up, and try to learn, try to play.
When you think you have a pretty good grasp of the language and its basics, ask Chrom (or me, or an admin or something - but we'll probably direct you to Chrom in the end) for some test situations. If you can write a pretty good script for those, we'll see about giving you a bit more access... those who prove themselves - if they know the language, are decent at scripting, and are willing to help - can get a bit more help from us.
As it is, we're just seeing people screw around with the system, and get more access to the game than they should (ie, station battles).
So... you say you want to learn. Prove it.

right, if i were you i wouldnt count on it though, because thats not how the real world works.
scripting communities generally start out with the simple things, and you are giving them examples for spawning, ordering. make an small plot based scripted scenario and ppl will imitate that instead.
anyways, maybe ill get back to you if i ever reinstall windows and serverside scripts get executed then on my machine...
can i just get read only access meanwhile?
i mean, its not like i ever scripted a QSB.
and id be more then happy to help work out a building tutorial after 1.481.
